Ellie's killing instinct hasn't diminished since she started cancer treatment. But we made some modifications, so she's more comfortable. First, we play on the bed, so when she does hop and pounce, her landings are softer on her joints. Second, we focus most activity in one spot so she doesn't have to hop or pounce unless she wants to. Instead of chasing her yarn ball across the room, I toss it at her, and she bats it around. We might be biased, but we think she's pretty fierce!
L: Latte [tortie/tabby lady cat aka "Kitten"]
MK: Momma Kat [Latte and Ellie's human Momma, named Kat]
EM: I feel like killing something. If only I had something to kill ...

MK: Like your purple yarn ball?
EM: You'll throw it for me?
MK: Always.
EM: You're on! Kill mode engaged.

EM: I feel like I'm being watched.

MK: Just ignore it ...
EM: No. No. I sense ... trouble with a capital L.
L: Shows what you know! Trouble starts with a capital T!
{Kat giggles}
L: WHAT?!?
EM: She's behind me, isn't she?
MK: Yep.
EM: I'm Latte ... I'm a know-it-all ... dur ... dur ... dur.
{Kat bursts out laughing}
L: WHAT?!?! What's so funny?!?
EM: Stop lurking! It's creepy! Now, if you don't mind, or even if you do, I need to take care of business. The purple yarn ball waits for no cat.
L: Business?! What business?!? You sit in one spot and bat at a ball?!?
EM: FEROCIOUSLY. Not all battles between good and evil involve chasing things around like a crazy pants. Until you fight cancer, you wouldn't understand.

EM: Being ferocious is hard work!
MK: AWWWW!
EM: Don't even say I'm adorable! Is THIS adorable?

L: 🎜🎝 Go Elll-ie! It's your birth--day! 🎜🎝
EM: It is? Did you get me a present?
L: Erm ... no. It's a song.
EM: There's a song about my birthday?
L: No. It's about other birthdays.
EM: Then why is my name in the song?
L: Erm ... I don't think it is ... I mean, I changed the lyrics ...
EM: Then why did you sing it if it's not my birthday?
L: Because I was celebrating your ferociousness?
EM: Why is that a question? Do you question my ferociousness?
L: No?
EM: You're not sure?
L: I'm leaving!
EM: GOOD! Because you sitting back there was creepy!
L: Do you have these kinds of conversations with your cancer? I think you'd scare it off.
EM: It's spelled F ... erm ... F ... erm ... hmm ... erocious.
