The helpful showdown

Ellie Mae takes her job VERY seriously, even if no one else in the house does!

Ellie had surgery to remove a large tumor from her central liver almost two weeks ago. She's recovering well and has the go-ahead to resume normal activities. Unfortunately, the removed tumor was a cholangiocarcinoma. The surgeon thinks it will grow back elsewhere in her liver. Today's post is from before her surgery.

EM: Ellie Mae Kat [black, gorgeously floofy lady cat]
L: Latte [tortie/tabby lady cat aka "Kitten"]
MK: Momma Kat [Latte and Ellie's human Momma, named Kat]
The Boy: Momma's fiance, Daddy to Latte and Ellie

MK: Ummm ... Ellie? What are you doing?
EM: SHHH! By talking to me, you distract me.

MK: From what? You're sitting in the doorway to the bathroom.
EM: The bathroom. Where you are.
MK: Okay. But why?
EM: I'm protecting your privacy! Now, NO talking!

MK: Protect my privacy from who?!
EM: SHHH! Oh, great! Here she comes!
L: What's up? What's Momma doing?
EM: Nothing! Move along! Nothing to see here!
L: Let me past you! Momma needs me in the bathroom!
EM: Back off, sister. I'm guarding Momma's privacy.

L: Momma doesn't need privacy from me! She likes my help!

EM: I'm giving her all the help she needs.
L: {mumbling to herself} But I do it better ...
{Latte walks away}
EM: That's what I thought.

{Pause}
EM: She's coming back, isn't she?

L: I don't think you understand how much Momma needs me!
{Pause}
EM: Hey! What are you doing!?!?

{Pause}
EM: I don't like you like that!
L: Finally! I thought she'd never leave!

{Pause}
L: Don't worry, Momma! I'm here to help!
MK: Ummm ... I finished about a minute ago. You both were a little too busy to notice.
EM: {from the other room} This is why talking shouldn't be allowed! Or annoying sisfurs!
L: I'm not annoying! I HELP! Momma, you need my help!
MK: Latte, I used the bathroom by myself for years before I had cats.
L: And nothing terrible ever happened to you?
MK: No.
L: Well, you never know. It COULD. I'll make sure.
MK: Maybe next time.
L: When will that be?
MK: I'm not sure.
L: I'll just stay right here until you need me.
The Boy: Can I use the bathroom?
L: This bathroom is reserved for Momma.
The Boy: But it's our only bathroom!
L: So?
The Boy: Why do we go through this every time I have to use the bathroom?! KAT!!!!
MK: Let Daddy use the bathroom!
L: You mean our spare human? Fine. BYE! Let me know when you're done!
The Boy: WAIT! Why doesn't anycat want to help me?!
L: Are you done?
The Boy: NO!
L: Hurry up! Momma might need the bathroom!

  1. I am really sorry that the operation showed cholangiocarcinoma. Both girls are very protective of their Momma even though it means no privacy.

  2. Why not upgrade the spare human for another mum? That way you could each take it in turns to support both mums. A clone of the original mum would ensure no differences so no bias. Added benefit is only one mum needs go to work!

    1. Well, sisfurs get all the food the sick cat won't eat, so perhaps Latte might disagree.
