Making hydration fun for your cat [a review parody]

Hiiiiiiii! Latte here! Hiiiiiiii! Oh, wait. I already said that. Momma said I get to write my first post AND my first product review! I'm kind of nervy. [Ellie told me to say that's the cool kitten form of nervous and not nervy as in my MO of getting in her face. Just between you and me, she's pretty bossy and NOT AT ALL cool.]

Anyway. This review is about ME, not her. Wait. I mean this review is about the PRODUCT and not her. Today I'm reviewing my new fountain! We all know hydration is important for cats and this fountain definitely does the job AND makes hydrating fun!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Disclosure: We received this fountain faucet for free in exchange for paying our rent. Momma Kat and Her Bear Cat only shares information we believe would be useful entertaining to our readers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is my house! I'll take you to my new fountain. See all those toys? I kind of want to play with them, but I have work to do! Note: Drawback #1 of my new fountain: It can't be moved. Or Momma says it can't be moved. Either way, I'd appreciate the ability to find the best place for my fountain. Come on! This way!

Almost there ...

Admit it, you thought my new fountain was the toilet! For some reason, my Momma gets upset when I try to play in there [my favorite game: drop my mousie in the toilet and climb in there to get it out].

TADA! My new fountain!

Well ... hmm ... my fountain isn't on! Note: Drawback #2 of my fountain: I have to wait for my Momma to turn it on. Quite often, she's "too busy" to turn it on for me. As if. I'm starting to think I'm not her number one priority.

There's got to be a button around here somewhere ...

MOMMA! Turn on my fountain!

Thanks, Momma! Look at that stream of water! Isn't it mesmerizing? Ellie says if I'm not careful, I'll get wet. Hmph. Shows what SHE knows. I know one thing: this IS NOT her fountain. Lucky for me, Ellie has no interest in my fountain. No lines to get a drink of water!

What happens if I stick my paw in there? I think that's every kitten's favorite question.

Now, this is service! This fountain makes hydrating fun and entertaining!

Huh. I wonder where that water goes ...

Hmm ... I'm going to stick my paw in there this time! OH! OH! I'm wet! I'm going to die! I'm going to ... hmm. I'm not dead. But I might prefer to be if anyone tells Ellie that she's right. When she really gets going, she won't let anything go.

Here's another great way to increase your water intake (if you don't mind a wet paw or two). Momma? Is there a way to make this fountain such that a cat won't get wet?

Hmm. I guess not. Oh, well. This is fun. I don't care if my paws get wet.

♫♬ You put your right paw in! You put your right paw out! You put your right paw in and you shake it all about! ♫♬

What, Momma? What do you mean water is flying everywhere? I'm in the middle of something.

♫♬ You put your left paw in! You put your left paw out! You put your left paw in and you shake it all about!
♫♬

I just splashed myself in the face!

Hmm. Maybe this is more fun as a spectator sport. But, really! Where does the water go?

I suppose I could also drink this way ... no. Sticking my paw in the water is more fun!

Yep. This is the life. Wait. Did I wash my paws before drinking from them? I guess it doesn't matter.

I guess I see why humans always wash their hands. I think they just like to play in the fountain.

Hmm. I really wish I could figure out where all that water goes and where it comes from! Another fun feature of this fountain? My Momma doesn't get as annoyed when I drop my mousie in the sink for a bath (not shown). She gets all kinds of grumpy when I drop mousie in the toilet. And she's "really tired of fishing micey out of the trash can [and my water bowl]." I would've thought she'd be happy to fish eight of my micey out of the trash can ... I mean, it saved her from having to buy more! And kittens, if you haven't tried it, let me tell you ... playing "drop the mousie in the trash can" is the best game.

Fun AND hydrating. A kitten can't go wrong with this fountain! In terms of humans, my Momma wanted to share (because she always must get a word in here somewhere) her drawback #1: Water gets everywhere and makes a mess! You can see all the water running down the mirror. That's from me! You can't see in these pictures - but the counter's wet, my Momma's wet and random sprinkles are everywhere. I say it's not worth doing if it doesn't leave a mess. And a wet cat! Hahahaha.

ps - Manufacturer of this fountain, take note ... your product would be so much more desirable if it could be moved around the house and if I could turn it on myself. Kittens like options and to be able to do things ourselves.

  1. You are too cute!

    Glad you are having fun with your fountain. I have a mug that I drink from and I stick my paw in that.

    1. I do that with my Daddy's glass too! Only then I get distracted by his straw and I can't resist chewing on it! ~Latte

  2. Hmmm...we have a similar looking fountain but have never tried it! Thanks for the tip!

  3. Latte, looks like you've got the hang of the thing!
    No matter what water device that we put out for Da Boyz, they ignore it.
    Sweetie, however, drinks from her bowl often, for which we are glad.

    1. I'm pretty good about hydrating ... and unlike Ellie, I eat regular wet food meals, so I think I'm set. I'm surprised Da Boyz don't fill their water bowls with toys like I do! ~Latte

  4. What a glorious tail you have OMCS...Angel Madi absolutely adored her fountains. She went thru 2 of them.
    She especially enjoyed the 2nd one that had a kinda of water fall in it. And she love teaching her YEOWWWW!
    Sardines how to swim in it.

    1. Haha. Latte loves dropping toys in her [real] fountain. Her tail is something else - she always carries it loud and proud!

  5. Well, that is the best ad for a tap I have ever seen. But you didnt mention the sponsor or brand. You get more treats, and more importantly more cash, if you get there name in a bazillian times on US TV
    Do you have taps that dispense mice and cheese? A am asking for a friend, but happy to talk cash deal for the right sponsorship deal ;)

    2. Cheese and mice are definitely fun to play with. Playing and eating one's food is good too. Playing IN you food is something best left to humans. ;)

  8. Latte, I will tell you now and tell you true! I LOVED your blog today. You have got mom and me both smiling all the way around our heads! Best bloggie ever! You were born t it. But I have to say, Ellie, miss you girlfriend! But Latte, spot on. (the whole bathroom too, I might add)

  9. That is a lovely fountain. Latte! Eric and Flynn had one like that and I used to leave the tap trickling for them. That was okay until Eric decided it was a good place to sleep and blocked the plug hole and made it overflow. I evicted him to the bath and let that tap trickle instead.

  10. Nice review. Did you know they sell faucets that will turn on automatically when you wave your paw in front of it?

  11. You did an absolutely PAWSOME job with your first solo blog post, beautiful Latte! Strangely enough, as much as Mudpie loves water, she's never caught on to a running faucet!

    1. Mudpie loves water? How did we NOT know this? Latte doesn't mind water as long as it's on her own terms :)

      Thank you, Melissa and Mudpie. Being a blogging cat is harder than it looks! ~Latte

  12. Um, as fountains go it does look pretty cool even if it is a bit big, and you get wet, and turning it off looks really hard.

    Like you mousie in the trash can idea tho'

  13. Your fountain is super cool, Latte! Now, if they just made them portable -- and automatic, so you didn't have to rely on Momma to turn it on...

  14. AMARULA: Hey Latte! Frodo's fav game is also to drop a toy in toilet and then fetch it. I LOVED the game because I had a wonderful plan to push him in one day. Alas! the human keeps the lid on! I might try your fountain as I love the idea of getting the human to turn off and on the fountain at my bidding!

  16. Great review, Latte! You are going to be good at being a blogging cat! Our Samantha used to love that type of fountain too. We wonder though - could you someday maybe figure out how to turn that on all by yourself? For your Momma's sake, we hope you aren't quite that smart! :)

  17. Latte, we have a few of those fountains around the house, but none of the cats will attempt to use them! I'll show them your review so they can see how great that kind of fountain is.

  20. A paw full of water is the only way to drink! Such a dainty way to satisfy one's thrist. Tyebe drops her mouse in the water and then laps the water up like a friggin' wofie!
